Have you ever told yourself that you will start that health kick when you get all those ducks in a row?
When you’ve got the right kit, or when summer arrives and the days are longer, or if you meet that special someone that you want to impress?
It’s just too easy to come up with reasons for not starting now.
But motivation is unreliable.
Without a trigger, or the skill and confidence to do the physical activity you plan to do, motivation just doesn’t take you where you want to go.
It’s easier if we choose a micro-step to do right now or at another specific point in time, to get started and to put into a routine that we already execute on a regular basis.
Ideally, it will be something that you can do in less than 30 seconds.
30 seconds?
How is that going to make me fit and strong?
Because we overlook the fact that we’re human.
We struggle to exercise, not because we don’t have enough time or money, but rather, because we’re not physically capable or confident in our ability to execute.
If, however, you make the exercise tiny, you feel more capable of exercising
…and the aim of the game is to stay in the game until you win the game.
So how can I stay in the game?
……
……
Baby steps.
Start with an exercise where you don’t need to obviously move a muscle.
Then another exercise where you might move just a bit within your chair.
Then one where you move a couple of limbs.
And so on….
Don’t know how you could go about this effectively?
